Ashanti Shequoiya, better popularly known as Ashanti, is an incredibly famous American singer and actress. She is a musician, singer and actress who hails from the United States. Her talent was first noticed in her teens. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Both Fat Joe's What's Luv? Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti as she's commonly known was born at Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas, her mother, is a retired dance instructor. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. The Kenashia Shia family is their youngest sister. Douglas chose the name Ashanti in honor of Ghana's Ashanti Empire, where women were in charge and held power and influence. Ashanti initially appeared as the background singer on the track Big Pun on the song "How We Roll". Other appearances she has made include the Fat Joe track"What's Luv?" Also, she appeared on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? Her debut single Foolish includes a snippet of the 1983 hit song from DeBarge, With Me. Ashanti made her debut album, titled "Ashanti", in 2002 under Irv Getti's Murder Inc. Record Label. The Declaration, Ashanti's fourth studio album was released the 3rd of June, 2008. Hey Baby After the Club came out on October 16 to radio and digital stores. Also, she was in the films Christmas in the City, Army Wives and Latasha Monteclair.
