Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift showed an interest in music at an early age and she progressed quickly from roles in children's theatre until her first performance before an audience of tens of thousands. She was age 11 when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game and in the next year, she began playing guitar and began writing songs. Swift was inspired by artists who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks as well as the Chicks to come up with original songs that reflected the loneliness she felt at the age of 13. Swift left Pennsylvania together with her parents, to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she was 13 years old to dedicate more time to contacting the country music labels.
